Description
1984 John Tonelli New York Islanders Playoffs Game Worn Jersey
Lot #62

This home white mesh gamer by CCM was worn by John Tonelli during the 1984 playoffs. Tonelli began his career with the WHA’s Houston Aeros. He was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft by the New York Islanders and joined them in 1978-79 after 3 years in Houston. JT would spend the next 8 years of his career on Long Island, where he would play a major role in helping the Islanders to dynasty status as they hauled in 4 straight Stanley Cups from 1980-83. A deadline deal in 1986 sent Tonelli to Calgary. A couple of months later, Tonelli found himself in the Finals for the 6th time in 7 years, as the Flames fell to Montreal. After 3 years in Calgary, John moved to LA where he represented the Kings for 3 seasons. He wrapped up his career with partial seasons in Chicago and Quebec. All told Tonelli spent 14 years in the NHL and another 3 in the WHA. He ended his NHL career with an even 325 goals to go along with 836 points in 1028 games played.

Offered here is Tonelli’s 1984 playoff jersey, worn as the Islanders dynasty came to an end at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers. The game wear on this sweater is on the lighter side with some stick marks, board burns and inner pilling. Worn by Tonelli on home ice during the latter part of his tenure with the Islanders.
