1984 John Harrington Team USA Pre-Olympic Game Worn Jersey - Miracle On Ice Alum - Photo Match
Lot #22

This white mesh gamer by Pedersons was worn by John Harrington while skating for Team USA during the 1984 Pre-Olympic schedule. After playing his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, this Virginia, MN native played for Herb Brooks’ 1980 U.S. Olympic Team. Harrington famously assisted on Mike Eruzione’s game winning goal against the Russians in the “Do You Believe in Miracles” game. John assisted on 5 goals in Team USA’s 7 Olympic games on the way to the Gold Medal. Harrington competed for Team USA for five consecutive seasons, culminating with the 1984 Olympics where he was one of only two returning players from the 1980 Gold Medal winning team. Following his playing days, Harrington enjoyed a lengthy coaching career that included 7 seasons behind the bench at the University of Denver and St. Cloud State.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size XL sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, stitch pops and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Harrington wearing this exact jersey during the 1984 pre-Olympic schedule. On the lower verso is a bold black sharpie signature in Harrington’s own hand. Team USA partook in a 60+ game pre-Olympic schedule in 1984, playing a dozen of those games at the Met in Minnesota. Harrington wore this sweater during that time as Team USA prepared for the 1984 Olympics in Sarajevo. A beautiful photo matched and autographed example, complete with the coveted letter of honor and worn by this celebrated Lake Placid 1980 Gold Medal winning Miracle On Ice Alum.
