1984-85 Trent Yawney Saskatoon Blades Game Worn Jersey
Lot #210

This road blue mesh gamer by Crest Craft was worn by Trent Yawney during the 1984-85 WHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Yawney in the 3rd round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his junior hockey for the Saskatoon Blades, Trent spent 3 seasons with the Canadian National Team that included the 1988 Olympics. Yawney made his NHL debut in 1987-88 with Chicago where he played for four seasons. In 1991-92, Yawney was dealt to the Calgary Flames in exchange for Stephane Matteau. He would spend five seasons in Calgary before wrapping up his career with a year in St. Louis and a final two seasons back home with the Chicago Blackhawks.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and some team-sewn repair work. Yawney was fantastic during his last season of juniors while wearing this sweater. He lit the lamp 16 times and added 51 assists for 67 points to go along with 158 PIMS in 72 games played as he wrapped up his junior career. Vintage Saskatoon Blades gamers have been a pretty tough get for collectors through the years. This is in fact the first Saskatoon mesh that we are aware of to appear at Major Auction. A nice vintage WHL gamer worn by this veteran NHL defenseman.
