This road blue mesh gamer by Rawlings was worn by Terry Johnson during the 1984-85 NHL season. Johnson began his NHL career with the Quebec Nordiques in 1979-80 and spent 4 seasons with the club before joining the St. Louis Blues for a few years. The Blues dealt Johnson to the Flames prior to the deadline in 1986 and he helped Calgary to the Stanley Cup Finals later that spring. Terry played his last couple of seasons with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This tough guy took on all comers and totaled 580 PIMS in 285 NHL games played. In 38 playoff games, Johnson added another 118 PIMS including 64 PIMS in 17 games for the Flames during their run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985-86.
The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, heavy inner pilling and more than a handful of team-sewn and material backed repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Johnson wearing this exact jersey during the 1984-85 season. Beloved by St. Louis fans and type style collectors alike, this one-year all sewn on style by Rawlings was worn by the Blues during the 1984-85 season. This well-worn fresh to the block photo matched offering would make for a terrific addition to any serious vintage Blues collection.
