1984-85 Sylvain Cote Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey Rookie - Photo Match
Lot #69

This home white mesh gamer by CCM was worn by Sylvain Cote during the 1984-85 NHL season, his rookie year. The Hartford Whalers selected Cote with the 11th overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He began his career with the Whale in 1984-85 and spent 7 seasons with the club before moving onto the Washington Capitals. While in the nations capitol, Cote formed a fearsome defensive corp alongside Al Iafrate, Kevin Hatcher and Calle Johansson that scored points from the blueline at a scary clip. He recorded three consecutive double-digit goal seasons with a career best of 21 in 92-93 as part of his 7-year stay with the team. Sylvain went on to represent the Maple Leafs, Blackhawks, Stars and then wrapped up his career with another few seasons in Washington. All told this rearguard played in 1171 games over the course of his 19-year NHL career.

The game wear on this heavy mesh sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, material pulls and inner pilling. Sewn to the inside is a pair of fight straps including a double skate lace late addition for Cote. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Cote wearng this exact jersey during the 1984-85 season. A terrific photo matched sweater worn by this 19-year NHL veteran during his rookie season while playing for the long defunct Hartford Whalers.
