Description
1984-85 Phil Sykes Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey - Rookie
Lot #94

This home purple and gold knit gamer by CCM and Adidas was worn by Phil Sykes during the 1984-85 NHL season, his first full year in the league. After spending 4 years at the University of North Dakota, this undrafted winger latched on with the Kings organization. He spent the majority of his first two professional seasons with the New Haven Nighthawks, playing in a total of 10 games during his NHL call-ups. In 1984-85 he broke the Kings lineup full-time and remained with the team for the next 6 years. In 1989-90 Sykes joined Winnipeg and spent the final 3 years of his career with the Jets.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the born on tag that reads 84-07. Embroidered on the back hem is the Adidas logo. The game wear on this rookie sweater consists of numerous stick and slash marks, plenty of board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains, heavy inner pilling and nearly 20 team-sewn repairs. A well-worn vintage purple and gold that was worn by Sykes during his rookie year.
