Description
1984-85 Mike Liut St. Louis Blues Game Worn Jersey
Lot #19

This home white mesh gamer by Rawlings was worn by Mike Liut during the 1984-85 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues and New England Whalers each selected Liut in the 1976 Amateur Drafts in their respective leagues. After graduating from Bowling Green State University, Liut began his professional career in the WHA with the Cincinnati Stingers where he played for 2 years before the leagues collapse. Mike entered the NHL in 1979-80 with St. Louis who owned his rights. Over the next five and a half years with the Blues, Liut became St. Louis’ all-time leader in games played and wins. Liut was twice a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star and also played in the NHL All Star game representing St. Louis. Liut also won the 1981 Lester B. Pearson Trophy as the NHL’s most outstanding player. After his tenure with St. Louis, Liut went on to play for the Whalers for parts of 6 years and then spent a final few seasons with the Capitals. Mike won better than 300 games between his NHL and WHA career and also started between the pipes for Team Canada during the 1981 Canada Cup.

The sleeves on this gamer have been custom shortened for Liut by the team. The game wear on this size 52 sweater is goalie typical and consists of stick and puck marks, sweat stains and inner pilling. Beloved by St. Louis fans and type style collectors alike, this one-year all-sewn-on style that was made by Rawlings was worn by the Blues during the 1984-85 season. On the back hem is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Liut’s own hand while the upper verso shows evidence of a nameplate reattachment. Shown above are a number of beautiful photos taken of Liut during the 1984-85 campaign while wearing his home Rawlings sweater. A beautiful example that was worn by Liut during his final year in St. Louis as he climbed atop the Blues all-time rankings, choice!
