Description
1984-85 Mark Howe Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #60

This home white heavy mesh gamer by Eagle was worn by Mark Howe during the 1984-85 NHL season. Mark Howe’s illustrious career spanned 22 seasons. The first 6 of those were spent in the WHA as a teammate of his father Gordie and brother Marty. In 426 WHA games Mark tallied a lofty 504 points, leaving his mark as one of the WHA’s all time best. His NHL career was no less impressive. In 929 games this defenseman banked 742 points leaving his career points total in excess of 1200. He was among the highest scoring defenseman of his era and is deserving of Hall of Fame attention.

Mark was 3 times a 1st team NHL All Star and was 2 times a 1st or 2nd team WHA All Star. He played in 4 NHL All Star games and was the recipient of the Lou Kaplan Trophy in 1974 as WHA’s rookie of the year. Howe also nabbed the 1986 NHL +/- award. His leadership and stellar blueline play helped the Philadelphia Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985 and 1987, where they fell short both times to the Edmonton Oilers dynasty.

The game wear on this sweater consists of some heavy stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. This sweater was worn during the Flyers run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1985, smack dab in the prime of Howe’s lofty career.
