1984-85 Jay Johnston Fort Wayne Komets Game Worn Jersey
Lot #234

This road blue mesh gamer by Pedersons was worn by enforcer Jay Johnston during the 1984-85 IHL season. The Washington Capitals selected Johnston in the 3rd round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. Johnston made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with the Capitals where he played for two seasons. Jay also enjoyed a 9-year minor pro career that began with the Port Huron Flags and continued on with the Hershey Bears and Fort Wayne Komets. Jay’s single season career best PIMS total came as a rookie with Port Huron as he put up 409 PIMS. This legendary minor league enforcer played in 596 games and racked up a most impressive 1911 PIMS!

The game wear on this size XXL sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and trauma, fight abuse, a stitch popped front collar, heavy inner pilling and some terrific team-sewn repair work including a 7-inch-long sewn job on the verso. On the crest is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Johnston’s own hand. A nice old school enforcer’s sweater.
