Description
1984-85 Greg Gilbert New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #102

This home white mesh gamer by Pedersons was worn by Greg Gilbert during the 1984-85 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Gilbert in the 4th round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. Gilbert made his NHL debut in 1981-82 with the Islanders with whom he played for 8 seasons. Greg won the Stanley Cup in each of his first two years in the league and lost in the Finals in his 3rd season. Gilbert enjoyed a 15-year NHL career and after his days with the Islanders he played for the Blackhawks for parts of 5 years, was a member of the 1994 Stanley Cup winning New York Rangers team and then spent 2 years in St. Louis before retiring. Since leaving the ice, Gilbert has spent much of the past 20 years as a Head Coach, which included a 3-year stint with the Calgary Flames. Gilbert’s finest individual season came in 1983-84 as he played a full schedule for the first time in his NHL career and scored 31 goals and 66 points while going a remarkable +51 for the Islanders during their “Drive for Five”!

The game wear on this size XL sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs including a lengthy repair on the belly to close up a gash. A nice fresh to the hobby sweater showing fine game use and worn by this 3-time Stanley Cup Champion.
