Description
1984-85 Gord Dineen New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #66

This road blue mesh gamer by Pedersons was worn by Gord Dineen during the 1984-85 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Dineen in the 2nd round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. This Toronto native began his NHL career with the Islanders at the tail end of their early 1980’s dynasty, playing in a couple of games in 1982-83. In 1983-84, Gord earned a regular spot on the Isles blueline and he spent a total of 6 seasons in the Islanders colors before being dealt to the Minnesota North Stars in 1987-88. After parts of two seasons with Minnesota, Gord joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for parts of four seasons during which time his team won two Stanley Cups. Dineen finished up his NHL career with a couple of years in Ottawa and a final season back with the Islanders. He then spent 6 more years patrolling the IHL bluelines, predominantly as a member of the Grizzlies. Since his playing days ended, Gord has been working behind the bench as a coach for nearly two decades, having recently spent 8 years with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies and a couple of seasons with the Rochester Americans.

The sleeves on this gamer have been custom shortened for Dineen by the team. The game wear on this size XL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, a fight strap that exhibits salt and rust and inner pilling. Dineen played in 48 games for the Islanders in 1984-85, scoring 13 points and adding 89 PIMS as he was quick to stand up for his teammates and drop the gloves.
