1984-85 Dave Poulin Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey – 1st Year Captain – 30-Goal Season
Lot #21
This road orange mesh gamer by Eagle was worn by Dave Poulin during the 1984-85 NHL season. Poulin played four years of college hockey at Notre Dame before making his NHL debut in 1982-83 with the Philadelphia Flyers. Dave spent parts of 8 seasons with Philadelphia, leading them to the Stanley Cup Finals twice in that span. He joined the Boston Bruins midway thru the 1989-90 campaign and helped Boston to the Stanley Cup Finals later that spring where, for the third time, the Edmonton Oilers dynasty denied him a Stanley Cup ring. Dave spent parts of four years in Boston before completing his 13-year NHL career with the Washington Capitals. Poulin was a fierce competitor who exuded leadership. He served as the Flyers Team Captain for 6 seasons after taking over the reins from Bobby Clarke in 1984-85. Dave played in two NHL All Star Games, won the 1992 King Clancy Memorial Trophy and won the 1986-87 Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL’s best defensive forward.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the manufacturers and size tagging. The game wear on this size 50 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, stitch pops, trauma at the front collar, washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. This completely fresh to the hobby example has sat in a private collection for the past 36 years since being acquired directly from the Flyers as part of their 1984-85 team sets. Poulin, while wearing this jersey during his first season as Team Captain, led his Flyers all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals. Dave scored 30 goals and added 44 assists for 74 points in 73 regular season games played during that memorable season. A tremendous fresh to the hobby example that Poulin wore during his first season as Philadelphia’s team Captain after assuming the letter of honor from Flyers legend, Bobby Clarke.
