Description
1984-85 Dave Langevin New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey
Lot #87

This road blue mesh gamer by Pedersons was worn by Dave Langevin during the 1984-85 NHL season. The New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers both selected Langevin respectively in the 1974 NHL and WHA Amateur Drafts. After 4 seasons at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Langevin joined the WHA’s Edmonton Oilers where he played for 3 seasons. After the NHL/WHA merger, Langevin joined the Islanders where he went to 5 straight Stanley Cup Finals in his first 5 NHL seasons and walked away with 4 Championship Rings. Langevin spent 6 years with the Islanders, a year with the North Stars and a partial season with the Kings before retiring. He was a 2nd team WHA All Star and also played in the 1983 NHL All Star game, in recognition of his tremendous defensive skills. Internationally, Langevin was a member of Team USA during the 1976 World Championships and the 1981 Canada Cup.

Worn during Langevin’s final year with the Islanders, the game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a well-salted fight strap and heavy inner pilling. Worthy of mention is evidence of a nameplate change, a commonality on this set of Islanders gamers. A nice vintage offering from this core member of the Islanders dynasty.
