Here’s an unusual one. This unused Sabres jersey by CCM hails from the 1984-85 NHL season. Jerry “King Kong” Korab spent his final two seasons in Buffalo wearing #44, 1983-84 and 1984-85. This sweater oddly sports a Jeanneret nameplate. Rick Jeanneret is of course the legendary Buffalo Sabres announcer who called games from 1971-2022.  

Sewn into the collar is the born-on date “84-07”. This jersey measures to a size 56 and likely was ready to have a Korab nameplate added by the team. Korab played in only 25 games for the Sabres in his final season and thus this sweater never made it into game action. An intriguing vintage offering for the Sabres collector.
