1984-85 Alan Kerr New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey – Rookie
Lot #710

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers and tough guys to the hobby exclusively thru our Fall 2017 Auction. These 14 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, some which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This home white knit gamer by CCM was worn by Alan Kerr during the 1984-85 Stanley Cup Playoffs in his rookie season. The New York Islanders selected Kerr in the 4th round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. Kerr cracked the Isles lineup late in the 1984-85 season and he remained with the club for parts of 7 years before completing his career with stints in Detroit and Winnipeg. Despite being smaller in stature, this tough winger was happy to drop the gloves as evidenced by 6 seasons of triple digit PIMS, a career best 198 PIMS coming in 1987-88. Kerr’s 391-game NHL career saw him compile 826 PIMS.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the born on date “85-01”. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a team-sewn repair on the sleeve and a couple more on the upper verso. This sweater was also likely worn during the 1985 pre-season. The nameplate has been removed from this sweater and lost to history. Nice offering worn by this tough guy during his rookie season.
