Description
1983-84 University of Minnesota-Duluth Game Worn Jersey – Player #24 – “RAR” – UMD’s 1st Frozen Four – UMD’s 1st Conference Championship
Lot #307

This home white mesh gamer by Norcon was worn by player #24 during UMD’s historic 1983-84 WCHA season. The 1983-84 season saw the Bulldogs win their first Conference regular season and tournament championships. They followed that up with an improbable run through the NCAA tournament as they reached the Frozen Four for the very first time. The Frozen Four took place in Lake Placid, NY where four years earlier the U.S. Olympic Team made history. Duluth defeated North Dakota by a 2-1 score in overtime in the semi-finals to reach the Championship Game against Bowling Green. In what turned out to be college hockey’s longest recorded game, the Bulldogs fell 2-1 in the fourth overtime on a Gino Cavallini goal.

Sewn to the left shoulder of this gamer is the RAR patch that commemorates the passing of UMD Hall of Famer Ralph Romano. The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns and inner pilling. The nameplate has been removed from the upper verso and lost to history. This is the first time we’ve had the privilege to offer a 1983-84 Minnesota-Duluth gamer. A must have patched rarity for UMD collectors!
