1983-84 Jim Kyte Winnipeg Jets Game Worn Jersey - Rookie
Lot #547
This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK and CCM was worn by Jim Kyte during the 1983-84 NHL season, his rookie year. Kyte stood 6’ 5” tall and roamed the NHL bluelines while adeptly clearing creases over the course of 13 seasons. In 598 career games he accumulated 1342 PIMS, earning triple digit totals nearly every year he played. The majority of Kyte’s career was spent in Winnipeg where he played for 7 seasons before stops in Pittsburgh, Calgary, Ottawa and San Jose.

Kyte wore this sweater during his rookie season. The battle scars leave no doubt about this youngster’s willingness to earn and keep his roster spot after being a 1st round draft choice. The game wear consists of stick and slash marks, board burns and fine inner pilling. Fight abuse is readily evident as there is loads of blood staining all over the front of this gamer. In addition, there is some nice repair work emanating from the collar and heading in several directions including a 7-inch long Frankenstein style repair. There is little surprise to also find a custom skate lace and loop style fight strap inside. Shown above are some video highlights of Kyte wearing his home white rookie sweater during a great fight against Boston's Gord Kluzak. A fantastic early era defunct Jets jersey.
