1983-84 Bruce Hood NHL Referee Game Worn Jersey
Lot #37
This stunning black and white striped jersey was worn by Bruce Hood circa the 1983-84 NHL season. Hood is looked upon as one of the NHL’s all-time great referees. His NHL career spanned 1966-1984. He was the first referee to work 1000 NHL games and he helped form the NHL official’s association in 1969. One of the last games that Hood worked was the Good Friday Massacre between Quebec and Montreal during the 1984 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Over his career, Hood worked more than 150 Stanley Cup Playoff Games along with three NHL All Star Games and three Canada Cups.

Sewn to the upper verso of this gamer is the surname “Hood” in white tackle twill lettering onto a black knit nameplate. Sewn to the left breast is the NHL shield. This beautiful example was worn by Hood towards the end of his legendary officiating career. Further, this is the style that Bruce wore during the 1983-84 season as he officiated his 1000th Game as well as the infamous Good Friday Massacre during the 1984 Stanley Cup Playoffs, as shown in the images above. A nice vintage black and white striped offering that was worn by the first referee to officiate 1000 NHL games.
