This road blue knit gamer by Maska was first worn by Brent Peterson during the 1983-84 NHL season. The jersey was then recycled for Don Lever to wear during the 1985-86 pre-season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Peterson in the 1st round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. This Calgary native made his NHL debut in 1978-79 with the Red Wings where he played for parts of four seasons before being acquired as part of the blockbuster deal that sent Jim Schoenfeld and Danny Gare to Detroit. Peterson skated for four years in Buffalo before wrapping up his career with two years each in Vancouver and Hartford. All told this winger spent 11 seasons in the NHL.
The Vancouver Canucks selected Lever in the 1st round of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. This South Porcupine, ONT native made his NHL debut in 1972-73 with Vancouver where he played for 8 seasons. During the 1979-80 sesaon, Lever was dealt to the Atlanta Flames where he spent the next few years representing Atlanta and Calgary. Lever would go on to represent the Colorado Rockies, the inaugural New Jersey Devils where he skated for a few years and was named their first Team Captain and finally the Buffalo Sabres. All told this forward appeared in 1020 games over the course of 15 NHL seasons. Lever had three 30-Goal seasons to his credit and played in the 1982 NHL All Star Game.
