Description
1983-84 Blake Dunlop Detroit Red Wings Game Worn Jersey
Lot #105

This home white mesh gamer by CCM was worn by Blake Dunlop during the 1983-84 NHL season, his last year in the league. In 1973, Dunlop was drafted 18th overall by the Minnesota North Stars and 12th overall by the New England Whalers in their respective NHL and WHA drafts. After carving out 4 seasons with the Ottawa 67’s that included the 1972-73 Eddie Powers Memorial Trophy as the OHL’s top scorer, Dunlop chose the NHL and suited up for the Minnesota North Stars beginning in 1973-74. Blake spent 4 seasons with the North Stars before he joined the Flyers for a couple of years in the late 1970’s. In between, Dunlop played for a season with the Maine Mariners and won two AHL awards, the Les Cunningham Award as the AHL’s MVP as well as the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award. In 1979-80 he began a 5-year stint with the St. Louis Blues that saw him capture the 1980-81 Bill Masterton Trophy.

Dunlop signed a free agent deal with the Detroit Red Wings during the 1983-84 season. He suited up for the Red Wings in 57 regular season contests and another 4 in the playoffs before announcing his retirement. Offered here is Blake’s home gamer from his final year in the NHL. The body of this gamer has been custom shortened. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. Hard to believe that this Red Wings gamer is approaching its 30-year anniversary, a nice vinatge offering that shared the ice with Stevie Y during his rookie year.
