Description
1983-84 Al Macinnis Calgary Flames Game Worn Jersey – Rookie
Lot #8

This home white mesh gamer by CCM and Sandow SK was worn by Al Macinnis during the 1983-84 NHL season, his rookie year. The Calgary Flames selected Macinnis in the 1st round of the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. Macinnis thus began an extraordinary NHL career that spanned 23 seasons and 1416 games. Al spent the first 13 seasons of his career with the Flames and then completed his career with 10 seasons as a member of the St. Louis Blues. Macinnis scored 340 goals, thanks in large part to his booming slap shot that was often clocked at 100MPH. He added an impressive 934 assists, giving him a total of 1274 career points, good for 3rd on the all-time scoring list for defenseman. Macinnis won the 1999 Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman and the 1989 Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP, as he led his Calgary Flames to the first Stanley Cup title in team history. Al was 7-times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star and played in double-digit NHL All Star games on his way to a 2007 Hall of Fame induction.

This jersey has been custom shortened by the team for Macinnis. The game wear on this 1st set sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. Sewn to the left shoulder is the Calgary Olympic patch, which was added after the fact by the team. On the back player number is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Macinnis’ own hand. Macinnis made his NHL debut in 1981-82, playing two games while wearing the player number 11. He then played in 14 games the following season and wore the player number 22. The 1983-84 season was Al’s official rookie year and this jersey marked the first time that he wore his now famous player number 2. He went on to play in 51 games, scoring 11 goals and adding 34 assists for 45 points before adding 14 points in 11 playoff games later that spring. Offered is a tremendous opportunity to acquire the customized rookie jersey of this Conn Smythe and Norris Trophy winning Hall of Fame defenseman, choice!
