1982-83 Don Lever New Jersey Devils Game Worn Jersey - Inaugural Season - NJ Devils 1st Team Captain
Lot #23
This road red mesh gamer by Sandow SK and Cosby was worn by Don Lever during the 1982-83 NHL season, the Devils inaugural year. The Vancouver Canucks selected Lever in the 1st round of the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft. This South Porcupine, ONT native made his NHL debut in 1972-73 with Vancouver where he played for 8 seasons. During the 1979-80 sesaon, Lever was dealt to the Atlanta Flames where he spent the next few years representing Atlanta and Calgary. Lever would go on to represent the Colorado Rockies, the inaugural New Jersey Devils where he skated for a few years and was named their first Team Captain and finally the Buffalo Sabres. All told this forward appeared in 1020 games over the course of 15 NHL seasons. Lever had three 30-Goal seasons to his credit and played in the 1982 NHL All Star Game.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this size XL sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns and inner pilling. Lever was named the New Jersey Devils first-ever Team Captain during that inaugural season. He scored 23 Goals (including the first in Devils history) and added 30 assists for 53 Points, finishing second in team scoring. A nice fresh to the hobby offering that sports the coveted letter of honor and hails from the Devils inaugural NHL season.
