This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Don Gallant and perhaps others, during the 1982-83 QMJHL season. Gallant’s playing career was short, consisting of a couple of seasons in the QMJHL with the Verdun Juniors. The 1982-83 season was the inaugural season for the Juniors and featured a lineup that was led by standout Pat Lafontaine (pictured above) and also included future NHLers Gerard Gallant and Stephane Lefebvre. Lafontaine’s record setting season led Verdun to the Presidents Trophy as well as a Memorial Cup appearance where they lost in the Semi-Final round to Oshawa.
The game wear on this size 46 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, loads of board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, trauma, heavy inner pilling and more than 60 team-sewn repairs! The nameplate has been removed from the upper verso and lost to history. A nice well-worn example from the successful yet brief two-year existence of the Verdun Juniors.
