This road green mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Blake Wesley during the 1982-83 NHL season. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Wesley in the 2nd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. Wesley made his NHL debut with the Flyers in 1979-80 and spent a couple of seasons on their blueline before joining the Hartford Whalers in part of the Rick MacLeish deal in the summer of 1981. Wesley spent parts of two seasons with the Whalers, parts of three more with the Quebec Nordiques and one final year with the Toronto Maple Leafs. This tough guy racked up 486 PIMS in 298 games played over the course of his 7-year NHL career.
The sleeves on this gamer have been custom shortened for Wesley by the team. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of familiar Adams Division rival Boston Garden board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling, collar pilling and a team-sewn repair. A custom skate lace has been affixed to the traditional fight strap beneath the back player number. A nice fresh to the hobby vintage Whalers gamer.
