1982-83 Behn Wilson Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #18
This road orange mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Behn Wilson during the 1982-83 NHL season. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Wilson in the 1st round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. This legendary pugilist made his NHL debut in 1978-79 with the Flyers where he played for five seasons. This Toronto native joined the Chicago Blackhawks in 1983-84 where he played the remaining four years of his NHL career. This rough and tumble defenseman could do more than just pack a punch. He was a consistent double-digit goal scoring threat from the point, tabbing a career best 16 goals and 63 points during the 1980-81 season. He also recorded a career high 237 PIMS that season and earned himself a place on the 1981 NHL All Star team. In 601 career games, Wilson scored 359 points and compiled 1480 PIMS.

The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, collar wear, fine inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. In addition to the standard loop style fight strap, an additional old school fight strap with the familiar blue racing stripes was added to the inside lower back player number. Shown above are some screen captures of Big Behn letting fly while wearing his road sweater as he dismantled Wayne Babych in St. Louis. Wilson is widely regarded as one of the game’s all-time great fighters. A tough to find example that hails from Big Behn’s last season with Philadelphia.
