Description
1982-83 Behn Wilson Philadelphia Flyers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #54

This road orange mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Behn Wilson during the 1982-83 NHL season. Wilson was the 6th overall selection by Philadelphia in the 1978 Amateur Draft. This legendary pugilist began his NHL career in 1978-79 with the Flyers and remained with the club for 5 seasons. Behn joined the Blackhawks in 1983-84 and played the remaining 4 years of his career in Chicago. This tough and rumble defenseman could do more than just pack a punch. He was a consistent double-digit goal scoring threat from the point, tabbing a career best 16 goals and 63 points during the 1980-81 season. He also recorded a career high 237 PIMS that season and earned himself a place on the 1981 NHL All Star team. In 601 career games, Wilson scored 359 points and compiled 1480 PIMS.

The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, a partially un-repaired burn hole, collar wear, heavy inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. In addition to the standard loop style fight strap, the Flyers have added an old school style fight strap with the familiar blue racing stripes to the inside lower back player number. Wilson is widely regarded as one of the game’s all-time great heavyweights. This example just recently entered our hobby after having been cherished in a private collection away from prying eyes for decades. Having played a mere 5 years in Philadelphia, and wearing a scant few jerseys at that, have left many fight fans and Flyers collectors in need of a Big Behn gamer.
