Description
1982-83 Archie Henderson Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey
Lot #47
This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Archie Henderson during the 1982-83 NHL season. The Washington Capitals selected Henderson in the 10th round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. This enforcer enjoyed a decade long professional career that saw him play just 23 NHL games over the course of three seasons for the Washington Capitals, the Minnesota North Stars and the Hartford Whalers. Henderson spent the majority of his time in the AHL, with brief stints in the IHL and CHL. Archie was a legendary goon that amassed staggering PIMS totals throughout his playing career, including a single season best of 419 while playing in the IHL in 1977-78. His career total of 2911 PIMS in just 714 professional games played is simply mind blowing!

The game wear on this sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, fight abuse, stitch pops, washed out bloodstains, a nicely worn and frayed custom fight strap, inner pilling and team-sewn repair work to fix a tear to the front right-side collar. Shown above is some video footage and screen captures from a fight with Henderson wearing his home white Whalers jersey. Archie played a total of just 15 games with the Hartford Whalers, accumulating 64 PIMS in the process. As collectors know, any Henderson game worn jersey is an extremely tough get, with this specific sweater having sat in private hands for a couple of decades before making its way to us not too long ago. This is just the second Henderson jersey we’ve ever had the pleasure to offer, with this being the only NHL gamer of Archie’s we’ve ever handled. A worthwhile prize for those who collect the enforcers!
