GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers and tough guys to the hobby exclusively thru our Spring 2018 Auction. These 11 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, most which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This road blue dureen gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Dave Andreychuk and or Val James during the 1981-82 and or 1982-83 NHL seasons. The Buffalo Sabres selected Andreychuk in the 1st round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He began his NHL career with Buffalo in 1982-83. In a career that spanned an impressive 23 seasons, Andreychuk played in Buffalo for 11 years before moving onto Toronto in 1993. After parts of 4 seasons with the Leafs, Dave joined the Devils for 4 years and scored his 500th Goal in New Jersey. Other stops included Boston, Colorado, another year in Buffalo and a final 4 seasons in Tampa Bay, where Dave captured the trophy that had eluded him to that point, the Stanley Cup. Andreychuk is currently ranked 14th on the NHL’s all-time goal scoring list with 640. His 1338 career points also place him amongst the elite scorers of all-time. A member of the vaunted 50-goal club, Dave netted a career best 53 for Toronto in 1993-94. Longevity is a respected term among NHLers and Andreychuk fits the definition having finished his career with 1639 games played, the 4th highest total in league history. After serving as Team Captain and hoisting the Cup in Tampa Bay, Dave called it quits on what was a most impressive career. This newly elected Hall of Famer was inducted with the class of 2017.

Val James, a native of Ocala, FL was a draft choice of the Detroit Red Wings in 1977. He made his NHL debut with the Buffalo Sabres in 1981-82, playing in 7 games. It wasn’t until 1986-87 that this enforcer would again see the NHL ice when he appeared in 4 games with Toronto. They would turn out to be the final 4 games of his 11-game NHL career that saw him rack up a total of 30 career PIMS.
James set a minor league single season career best in 1981-82 with Rochester by accumulating 204 PIMS in 65 games played!

James played in just 7 games as a rookie while Andreychuk played in a total of 43 with each of them wearing multiple player numbers. Therefore, as would be expected based on limited use, light game wear exists on this vintage dureen. Also worthy of mention is the nameplate, which has been removed from the upper verso and lost to history. This is the first Sabres #29 Sandow dureen that we’ve ever come across and it is making its return to hobby circulation after spending more than a dozen years in a private collection.
