This Beautiful and all original 1981-82 Vancouver Canucks Clarence Campbell trophy was given to Larry Ashely following the Canucks Campbell Bowl victory in 1981-82. Ashley was the Canucks trainer from 1981 until his death from cancer in 1995. The Canucks lost in the 1982 Stanley Cup Finals to the New York Islanders.
The trophy measures 11"inch high. The top is made of plated silver and the base is wood. The inscription on one side reads " Clarence Campbell Bowl 1968", which was the year that the trophy was introduced, and the other side reads " Larry Ashley Vancouver Canucks 1981-82". The Clarence Campbell trophy is awarded by the NHL to the players, staff and team members of the Western Conference playoff champions which the Vancouver Canucks have won only twice.
This trophy came from the collection of Larry Ashley, former head trainer of The Vancouver Canucks, who also worked as a head trainer for the Ottawa Nationals, Birmingham Bulls and Toronto Toros of the WHA. He was a founding member of the Professional Athletics Trainers Society and was a former president of the NHL's Trainers association. Larry was also the trainer in 2 NHL all star games and served as Team canada's trainer on three occasions.
Condition is excelllent with some very light minor tarnish to the bowl but overall stands out beautifully and would certainly make a great addition in any Vancouver Canucks or NHL memorabilia collection. This trophy will also be accompanied by a letter from Larry Ashley's father, Richard Ashley.
