1981-82 Randy Holt Washington Capitals Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #59

This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Randy Holt during the 1981-82 NHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Holt in the 3rd round of the 1973 NHL Amateur Draft. This enforcer spent 10 seasons wreaking havoc in the NHL in representation of the Blackhawks, Barons, Canucks, Flames, Capitals and Flyers. Holt led the entire NHL in PIMS as he registered a career single season best total of 275 PIMS in 1982-83 with the Washington Capitals. This tough guy played in 395 career games and amassed a most impressive 1438 PIMS!

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, material pulls, fine inner pilling, trauma and fight abuse, stitch pops, tearing at the rear collar, a heavily worn ribbon style and knotted fight strap that has torn away from its base, plenty of washed out bloodstaining and a couple of handfuls of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Holt wearing this exact jersey during the 1981-82 NHL season. Jim McTaggart and Jay Johnston who played 19 and 6 games respectively likely wore this jersey prior to Holt’s arrival in Washington on November 25, 1981 from Calgary. Holt tabbed 250 PIMS in just 53 games played while wearing this sweater on home ice that season. This well-worn fight abused fresh to the hobby example features a beautiful photo match and would make for a wonderful addition to any enforcer’s collection!
