This home white mesh gamer by Steichens was worn by Mike Eaves during the 1981-82 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues selected Eaves in the 7th round of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of Wisconsin, this Denver, CO native made his NHL debut in 1979-80 with the Minnesota North Stars. Eaves spent five seasons with Minnesota before joining the Calgary Flames in 1983-84. Mike spent the next three seasons with Calgary before retiring following the Flames run to the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals. Following his playing days, Mike went into the coaching profession and is best known for becoming the long-time Head Coach of the University of Wisconsin where he served for 14 seasons spanning 2002-16.
Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturers, year, size and wash tagging. The game wear on this size 54 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. Eaves played in just 25 games during the 1981-82 campaign, scoring 11 goals and adding 10 assists for an impressive 21 points. A nice vintage offering that will be accompanied by the original advertisement from the 1980’s when the jersey originally came to the hobby.
