1981-82 Mark Wichrowski Rochester Americans Game Worn Jersey
Lot #981

This road blue mesh gamer by Good Sports was worn by Mark Wichrowski during the 1981-82 AHL season. This enforcer had a brief professional career that began with Rochester in 1980-81. This tough guy’s career spanned merely 2 seasons in the AHL with the Rochester Americans under the guidance of head coach Mike Keenean. In 86 games played, Wichrowski amassed 401 PIMS!

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturers, wash, size and year tagging. The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair and is reflective of Wichrowski’s limited ice time while serving in his role as the Amerks goon during his 31 game schedule. A fight strap with extra reinforcement is found sewn to the lower verso just beneath the back player numbers. The 1981-82 season saw Rochester switch to a road blue uniform to emulate their parent team, the Buffalo Sabres. It marked the first time in decades that the Amerks hadn’t worn a red uniform for road games. A wonderful first year style Amerks gamer worn by one of Mike Keenan’s henchman during his all-too brief professional career.
