This road black heavy mesh gamer by Sandown SK was worn by John Bednarski during the 1981-82 AHL season. Bednarski played for 3 seasons in the NHL with the New York Rangers during the mid 1970’s. He also played with the Edmonton Oilers during their inaugural NHL season in 1979-80.
The 1981-82 season was the last of Bednarski’s playing career. He played in 66 games for the Erie Blades, this being the only year the Erie Blades were the Pittsburgh Penguins AHL affiliate. Bednarski put up solid numbers from the blueline with 10 goals and 30 helpers for 40 points.
The game wear on this vintage Sandow jersey is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired holes, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. A custom homemade fight strap can be found attached to the inside. A gorgeous old school Blades gamer from their only season in the AHL, while sporting the brand new Penguins black and gold colors.
