1981-82 Jim Peplinski Calgary Flames Game Worn Jersey Photo Match
Lot #28
This road red mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Jim Peplinski during the 1981-82 NHL season, his sophomore year. The Atlanta Flames selected Peplinski in the 4th round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This Renfrew native made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with the Calgary Flames in their inaugural season. Peplinski went on to an 11-year NHL career, all with the Flames, where he served as one of Calgary’s Team Captain’s for a five-year run thru the mid to late 1980’s. This tough defensive specialist played in two Stanley Cup Finals and walked away victorious in 1989. In 711 regular season games, Peplinski accumulated 1467 PIMS. He played in another 99 playoff contests and racked up an astounding 382 additional PIMS. Peplinski also represented Team Canada in the 1988 Olympics.

The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, trauma, collar pilling and fine inner pilling. Shown above are a couple of beautiful photo matches of Peplinski wearing this exact jersey during the 1981-82 season. Peplinski scored a career best 30 Goals and 67 Points while racking up 115 PIMS while wearing this sweater during his second NHL season. Peplinski’s gamers have been a rather tough get through the years, with this being the first example that we’ve had the pleasure to bring to auction. Tremendous well-worn photo matched example hailing from Peplinski’s career best 30-Goal and 67 Points season.
