Description
1981-82 Gordie Roberts Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey
Lot #46

This road green mesh gamer by Steichens was worn by Gordie Roberts during the 1981-82 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Roberts in the 3rd round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. This Detroit native made his WHA debut in 1975-76 with the New England Whalers where he remained thru the fledgling leagues collapse. Gordie transferred with his teammates to the NHL and played with Hartford for parts of two seasons before joining the North Stars during the 1980-81 campaign, a year that saw the North Stars trek to the Stanley Cup Finals. Roberts would spend 8 years wearing the Minnesota green and gold colors, earning himself a place on their all-decade team of the 1980’s. He later went on to play for the Flyers, Blues, Penguins and Bruins before retiring after 19 WHA/NHL seasons. Roberts played with the Penguins during their back-to-back Stanley Cup runs in the early 1990’s. In just over 1400 games played between the WHA and NHL this hard-nosed defenseman racked up in excess of 2000 PIMS.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the Steichens, wash, size and year tagging. The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a couple of team-sewn repairs. A well-worn vintage offering by this two-time Stanley Cup winner and part of the North Stars 1980’s all-decade team.
