Description
1981-82 Gary Edwards Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey - Last NHL Jersey
Lot #59
This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Gary Edwards during the 1981-82 NHL season. The St. Louis Blues selected Edwards with the 6th overall pick in the 1968 NHL Amateur Draft. Gary spent parts of 2 seasons with the Blues before joining the LA Kings in 1971-72. He would play in Los Angeles for parts of 6 years before spending a couple of seasons with the Cleveland Barons. After Cleveland folded, Edwards joined the Minnesota North Stars in 1978-79 and remained with the team until his trade to the Edmonton Oilers in 1981. Edwards finished up his goaltending career with brief stints in Edmonton, St. Louis and Pittsburgh.

The game wear on this sweater is on the lighter side as would be expected and consists of stick and puck marks, goal post paint transfer and inner pilling. This was the last game worn jersey worn by Edwards in his decade long NHL career. For Penguins completists, this marks an especially tough get as we assume that Edwards wore just one home and one road sweater after arriving in Pittsburgh on February 14th 1982 and retiring merely a couple of months later at the end of the season.
