1981-82 Bennett Wolf Erie Blades Game Worn Jersey
Lot #201

GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to bring this exciting collection of game worn enforcers, tough guys and instigators to the hobby exclusively thru our Fall 2018 Auction. These 11 NHL and minor league game worn jerseys have been held in a private collection since being purchased beginning nearly 20 years ago and have been out of hobby circulation ever since. Included in this group of legendary tough guys are some extremely difficult to find players and styles, most which are being offered at auction for the first time!

This road black mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Bennett Wolf during the 1981-82 AHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Wolf in the 3rd round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. This enforcer made his NHL debut with the Penguins in 1980-81. Bennett spent parts of 3 seasons with Pittsburgh, the entirety of his NHL career. Wolf’s professional career spanned just 6 seasons and was mainly spent in the AHL where he represented the Syracuse Firebirds, Binghamton Whalers, Erie Blades and Baltimore Skipjacks while twice leading the league in PIMS. Wolf’s single season best PIMS total of 408 came in his only IHL season with Grand Rapids. In 346 professional games this enforcer amassed an astounding 1809 PIMS!

The game wear on this size XL sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling, fight abuse, a custom fight strap with coin still in place and a lengthy team-sewn repair of a frontal tear that runs from the front of the collar straight down into the upper part of the crest. This one-year style represents the Blades only season as the Pittsburgh Penguins AHL affiliate. As fight collectors know, a Wolf game worn jersey has been an impossible get, with this example being out of hobby circulation for quite some time. This is the first Bennett Wolf gamer that we’ve ever had the pleasure to offer and it marks a tremendous opportunity for the die-hard collector of enforcers.
