This black and white striped jersey was worn by NHL linesman Wayne Bonney circa the 1980’s. Bonney began his career in the WHA where he worked approximately 700 games and joined the NHL after the leagues collapse for the start of the 1979-80 season. Wayne officiated his first NHL game in October of 1979. This veteran linesman went on to officiate about 2500 games. He worked in a handful of Stanley Cup Finals and a total of 224 playoff games. He also worked the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and the NHL All Star Game during his distinguished NHL career that spanned a quarter century.
Sewn to the left breast of this jersey is the NHL shield. Sewn high to the verso is the name Bonney. This vintage sweater was worn prior to the era that saw officials wear numbers on their uniforms. Nice even use exists on this striped sweater.
