1980's Chris Nilan Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #172

This road red knit gamer by CCM was worn by Chris Nilan circa the mid 1980’s. Nilan, a late round selection by the Canadiens in 1978, was considered a longshot to ever make the NHL. He proved everybody wrong, spending 13 seasons in the league and being one of only 9 players to surpass the 3000 PIM mark. Chris spent his first 9 seasons in the NHL as a member of the Canadiens, winning the Stanley Cup in 1986. He would later play for the Rangers and the Bruins before retiring after a final 17 games with Montreal in 1991-92. During the Canadiens Stanley Cup playoff run in 1986, Chris played in 18 post-season games and compiled 141 PIMS! His physical prescence played a key role in Montreal’s success that season. Chris would also play in the 1988 Canada Cup representing Team USA.

Sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Game use is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, heavy inner pilling and several team-sewn repairs. There is also extensive exterior pilling around the collar, cuff, belly and sleeves. A custom double loop fight strap is sewn to the inside. Traditionally among the tougher sweaters of 1980’s era goons to obtain, this fantastic Stanley Cup era representation, of one of the NHL’s all-time bad boys, will certainly please.
