Description
1980-82 Doug Risebrough Montreal Canadiens Game Worn Jersey
Lot #66

This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Doug Risebrough during the 1980-81 and/or the 1981-82 NHL season. The Montreal Canadiens selected Risebrough with the 7th overall pick in the 1974 NHL Amatuer Draft. Doug joined the powerful Canadiens roster for the 1974-75 season and remained with the team for 8 years. During that span he won 4 Stanley Cups as part of the late 1970’s Canadien’s dynasty. Risebrough centered the “Kid Line” that consisted of Tremblay on the RW and Lambert on the LW. It was a line that excelled at playing sound defense, controlling the corners, causing havoc in front of the net and scoring timely goals. This feisty centerman joined the Calgary Flames in 1982 and played for the Flames for 5 seasons. He played an integral role in helping Calgary to their first ever Stanley Cup Finals in 1986 and also served as Team Captain in Calgary. Risebrough ended his impressive career with 1542 PIMS in 740 games played.

The game wear on this sweater is tremendous and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, plenty of familiar board paint transfer from the old Montreal Forum, un-repaired burn holes, heavy inner pilling and about 100 team-sewn repairs! The old school garter style fight strap was relocated downward for Risebrough from the player number to a lower position on the back. Evidence of a nameplate change is also worthy of mention. This example was acquired directly from the Montreal Canadiens back in the 1980’s and lived in a couple of prominent collections since recently surfacing. This outstanding jersey is hammered; featuring approximately 100 team-sewn repairs and was worn by Risebrough during the end of his tenure with Les Habitants!
