1980-81 Tom Lysiak Black Hawks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #23

This road red heavy dureen gamer by Gunzos and Coane was worn by Tom Lysiak during the 1980-81 NHL season. Lysiak was the 2nd overall selection in the 1973 NHL entry draft by the Atlanta Flames. He burst onto the scene for Atlanta in 1973-74, spending his first 6 years with the club and is now looked back upon as the greatest player in Atlanta Flames history. Tom completed his 13 year career with the Chicago Black Hawks where he played for 8 years. Lysiak was an NHL All Star in 1975, 76 and 77. He had several 30-goal seasons and completed his career with nearly 300 goals and 843 points in 919 games played.

Sewn perfectly in the collar of this fabulous dureen is the Gunzos and Coane tagging. This sweater’s red color is still ever vibrant, bringing back vivid images of the Black Hawks skating into town over a quarter century ago. Considered by the masses to be the most attractive of all NHL jerseys, this gamer does nothing to disappoint. The hand stitched detail in the crest and tomahawks, along with the beautiful nameplate, are only enhanced by the strong game use.

This jersey sports stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, fine inner pilling, un-repaired holes and more than a handful of team-sewn repairs. Lysiak led the Black Hawks in assists and points in 1980-81 while wearing this very sweater. Photos of the Black Hawks 1981-82 OPC leaders card as well as Lysiak’s 81-82 OPC card are shown below with Tom front and center in what we can safely presume to be this very jersey. This is an awesome sweater that just drips old-time hockey.
