1980-81 Mickey Volcan Hartford Whalers Game Worn Jersey Rookie - The New England Collection
Lot #75

This home white mesh gamer by Good Sports was worn by Mickey Volcan during the 1980-81 NHL season, his rookie year. The Hartford Whalers selected Volcan in the 3rd round of the 1980 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at the University of North Dakota, this Edmonton native made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with the Whalers. This defenseman spent three seasons on the Whalers blueline before joining the Calgary Flames for his last NHL season. Following his time in the NHL, Volcan played in the AHL, CHL, IHL and also spent three seasons skating in Europe.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer are the manufacturers, wash, size and year tagging. The game wear on this size 52 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, sweat stains, stitch pops and inner pilling. Sewn to the inside back player number is the original old school fight strap. This 2nd year Hartford Whalers gamer was first introduced to the hobby as part of the New England Collection that debuted as part of our Spring 2015 Auction. A nice early Hartford Whalers example worn by Volcan during his rookie NHL season.
