This Sunday Gold mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Mario Faubert during the 1980-81 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Faubert in the 4th round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. After playing his college hockey at St. Louis University, Faubert made his NHL debut in 1974-75 with the Penguins. Mario played his entire 7-year NHL career on the Pittsburgh blueline.
The game wear on this Sunday Gold alternate is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, inner pilling, heavy trauma to the front neckline which was torn down into the crest and subsequently repaired along with several additional team-sewn repairs. Faubert set a career best 118 PIMS while wearing this sweater during the 1980-81 season. A well-worn example from the inaugural Sunday Gold set in Penguins’ franchise history.
