Description
1980-81 Greg Millen Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey
Lot #20

This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Greg Millen during the 1980-81 NHL season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Millen in the 6th round of the 1977 NHL Amateur Draft. This Toronto native made his NHL debut with the Penguins in 1978-79. Millen would call Pittsburgh home for 3 seasons before signing with the Hartford Whalers as a Free Agent in the summer of 1981. Greg spent parts of 4 years with Hartford before joining the St. Louis Blues in 1984-85. Following parts of 6 seasons with St. Louis, Millen wrapped up his 14-year NHL career after short stints with the Quebec Nordiques, Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings.

The game wear on this 2nd set sweater consists of stick, slash and puck marks, un-repaired holes, stitch popping, heavy collar pilling and inner pilling. This jersey hails from the first ever set of Penguins sweaters made by Sandow SK. The 1980-81 season saw Millen rank 3rd in games played with 63 and 4th in Wins with 25 while wearing this sweater during his last season as a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Millen’s Pittsburgh jerseys have proven to be an extremely difficult get through the years. This is the first time that we can recall one of Millen’s Pittsburgh Penguins gamers ever being up for Auction. This well-worn fresh to the hobby example represents a missing link for vintage Penguins collectors and Goalie collectors alike.
