1980-81 Glen Sharpley Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match
Lot #35

This home white dureen gamer by Gunzo’s and Coane was worn by Glen Sharpley during the 1980-81 NHL season. The Minnesota North Stars selected Sharpley with the 3rd overall pick in the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. Sharpley made his NHL debut at 20 years of age in 1976-77 with the North Stars. He remained with the team that drafted him for parts of 5 seasons before joining the Chicago Blackhawks midway through the 1980-81 campaign. Sharpley played in Chicago for parts of two seasons before his promising NHL career came to an abrupt end when he suffered an eye injury in December 1981.

This jersey has been custom shortened in the hem. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has been removed, fine inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Sharpley wearing this exact jersey in 1981 during his brief time as a member of the Blackhawks. Also worthy of mention is evidence of a nameplate change as Doug Lecuyer likely wore this jersey prior to being traded to Winnipeg on December 1, 1980. A beautiful well-worn photo matched offering from the coveted set of jerseys that was made by Gunzo’s and Coane.
