Description
1980-81 Doug Hicks Oilers Game Worn Jersey - "75-year Alberta" - Team letter
Lot #16

This road blue dureen gamer by Sandow was worn by Doug Hicks during the 1980-81 NHL season. Doug was the 6th overall selection in the 1974 NHL Amatuer draft. He would spend the first 4 seasons of his career with the North Stars before 2 years with Chicago, 3 more in Edmonton and parts of 2 years in Washington. Doug was a member of the expansion Edmonton Oilers in 1979-80 and shared the ice with The Great Gretzky for his first 3 seasons in the NHL.

These stunning blue dureen gamers were worn by the Oilers during the first set of the 1980-81 season and were part of the famed Peter Pocklington collection. Set 2 would see a switch to a Sandow mesh style jersey. These 1st set dureens are highly coveted by collectors due to their use for only a partial season, in the 2nd year of the clubs NHL existence.

Sewn to the right shoulder of this dureen gamer is the 75-year Alberta patch. Game use consists of stick marks, board burns, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. Here’s a fine opportunity to plug a hole on numerous want lists as these 1st set 1980 gamers don’t come to market often enough. This jersey will be accompanied by a Oilers team letter.
