Description
1980-81 Don Jackson Minnesota North Stars Game Worn Jersey
Lot #52
This home white mesh gamer by Steichens was worn by Don Jackson during the 1980-81 NHL season. The Minnesota North Stars selected Jackson in the 3rd round of the 1976 NHL Amateur Draft. After graduating from Notre Dame, this Minneapolis native suited up for the home team beginning in 1977-78. Jackson’s tenure with the North Stars lasted 4 seasons before he joined the Edmonton Oilers in 1981-82. Don spent 5 years with Edmonton and won a pair of Stanley Cups alongside Gretzky and the gang. Don played one final season with the New York Rangers before retiring following the 1986-87 season. Since leaving the playing ranks, Jackson entered the coaching fraternity and spent time in the NHL, ECHL, IHL and most recently in Germany where he won 5 titles as Berlin’s Head Coach in a 6-year span in the DEL.

Sewn into the collar of this gamer is the manufacturer’s, wash. size and year tagging. The 1980-81 season was a special one in Minnesota as the green and gold made their first ever appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals. Jackson played in a mere 10 games but racked up 19 PIMS, some by way of 5 minute major, the evidence of which is easy to see. There are numerous team-sewn repairs throughout the player number 3 on the verso and they culminate with some extensive repair work at and around the stunted vintage loop style fight strap. A nice example from Jackson’s final year playing in front of the hometown fans.
