1980-81 Bob Bourne New York Islanders Stanley Cup Finals Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match - Video Match
Lot #33
This home white mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Bob Bourne during the 1980-81 NHL playoffs and Stanley Cup Finals. The KC Scouts selected Bourne in the 3rd round of the 1974 NHL Amateur Draft. A trade sent Bourne to the Islanders where he began his NHL career as a rookie in 1974-75. It was an important season in franchise history as the Islanders surged to game 7 of the Semi Finals where they lost on Spectrum ice to the defending Stanley Cup champion Flyers. Bobby would become an integral part of the team’s nucleus that would go onto dynasty status in the years to come. Bourne remained an Islander for a dozen seasons and won 4 Stanley Cups before joining the Kings for 2 more years prior to announcing his retirement. Bobby was 3-times a 30-goal scorer for New York, although his biggest contributions were felt in the playoffs during the dynasty years. During the four consecutive Stanley Cup wining seasons in the 1980’s, Bourne averaged a point per game, scoring 74 points in 74 games including many clutch goals. Despite being one of the taller players in the league, Bourne possessed lightning fast speed and he used it to perfection as one of the NHL’s best penalty killers, a constant breakaway threat and a tremendous defensive forward. Bobby represented Team Canada in the Canada Cup and was also an NHL All Star.

The game wear on this size 50-tall sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer from the boards at the Nassau Coliseum, stitch pops and inner pilling. A double loop style fight strap has been added beneath the back player numbers. Shown above are a couple of photo matches of Bourne wearing this exact jersey during the 1981 Stanley Cup Finals. Also worthy of mention are the heavy stick marks on and below the crest, which are video matched to Bourne’s post-game interview during the Stanley Cup locker room celebration on May 21, 1981 after the Islanders won their 2nd Stanley Cup. Offered is a tremendous opportunity for the Islanders fan and collector to acquire a photo and video matched Stanley Cup Finals winning jersey that was worn by this 30-Goal scoring NHL All Star!
