1979-80 Richie Dunn Sabres Game Worn Jersey
Lot #48

This home white knit gamer by Maska was worn by Richie Dunn circa 1980. Dunn’s NHL career spanned 12 seasons and 9 of them were spent with the Buffalo Sabres. His other teams included Calgary and Hartford. Born in Boston Massachusetts, Richie represented Team USA in the 1981 Canada Cup, scoring 4 points in his 6 games of action. In 483 career games Dunn notched 176 points, not too shabby considering he was a defenseman.

The game wear on this Maska knit is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, heavy pilling both inside and out, un-repaired holes and 17 team-sewn repairs. The Sabres first wore this Maska set towards the end of the 1979-80 regular season, which followed the retirement of the Olympic patched Maskas. They wore these large logo Maskas all the way thru the 1980 playoffs where they took the Islanders to game 6 in the Semi-Finals and again wore them during the 1980-81 campaign. Hard to believe that it’s been a quarter century since these last saw game action.
