1979-80 Rich Leduc Quebec Nordiques Game Worn Jersey - Inaugural NHL Season
Lot #267
This road blue mesh gamer by Sandow SK was worn by Rich Leduc during the 1979-80 NHL season. The California Golden Seals selected Leduc in the 3rd round of the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. Leduc began his NHL career with the Boston Bruins in 1972-73 and spent parts of 2 seasons with the club. Next up was the WHA, where Rich played for the Cleveland Crusaders, the Cincinnati Stingers, the Indianapolis Racers and the Quebec Nordiques. He spent 5 seasons in the WHA before moving with the Nords to the NHL during the 1979-80 expansion where he played for two more years. Leduc’s finest season came with the Stingers in 1976-77, as he tallied 52 goals and 107 points. In 394 WHA games, Leduc scored 390 points and was continually among his team’s scoring leaders.

The game wear on this inaugural season sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, inner pilling and in excess of half a dozen team-sewn repairs. Significant reinforcement also exists to the front collar, which was likely traumatized during an on-ice scrum. A nice example from the club’s 1st year in the league and the only one that saw the Nords wear these Sandow SK made sweaters, thus forever tying them to the franchise’s first NHL season.
